This is a pre-owned Vintage Specialty Tool MFSR Inc. "The Improved Handy Light Weight" Asbestos Shingle Cutter. The cutter is used. The arm raises and reduces quickly. It is not understood if the device is completely functional. It would make a terrific display piece. The description from the original patent filing checks out as follows: "This device was designed to be utilized by roofers' and has for its principal objects to supply an efficient lightweight shingle cutter which will successfully cut asbestos shingles of different densities and which can be quickly lugged about and protected to the' roof; to supply means for punching nail holes in. the shingles; and to offer s1mplicity and cheapness of construction and density of design.". I discover it funny that this is the improved lightweight versions given that it weighs about 45 lbs which is likewise the reason I am publishing this as Local Pick-up Only. The cutter has been repainted a glossy black. The plate on the front has fundamental information on how to use the device. The cutter determines 151/2" x 31" x 7" and is about 45 lbs.
