Finished making this on December 10, 2023. 11” wide with 6” coffee can tone ring. In the picture I got the bridge set 26 1/2” from the nut. The neck is old wormy cherry still solid as can be. The top and bottom is from a really old table top that was found in an old log cabin in West Virginia. I can’t tell what kind of wood it is but I left a lot of the original character to it with some of its lumps and bumps. If only it could talk! This is definitely one of a kind and has a very bright pleasing tone. Don’t miss out on your chance to own this unique piece! I make these just like Stanley Hicks in the foxfire book and each one I make is a tribute to his & Frank Proffitts & Leonard Glenn’s legacy. I use the same antique tools even use historically accurate screws and a boiled linseed oil & beeswax finish. Holding a playing this is like taking a step back in time when things were more simple and healthier. The ebony violin pegs are set into holes reamed with two violin reamers with one being special made for the 5th peg. I can an so sometimes carve pegs but using standard ebony pegs it’s much easier to replace if they ever break in an accident and in my opinion ebony is much more durable and would have been readily available in the day because we had so many fiddlers around. I guarantee you will receive the same instrument in the photos and that you will get a playable instrument. I just lighten tension on strings and fold the bridge down and wrap it and then wrap it all with bubble wrap and make a custom box wjth lots of duck tape.
