This is an antique wooden lap desk made by H.R. Taylor in the late 1800s. It has a slanted, sloped design and is portable and folding. The desk has a great patina and is brown in color. It measures 16" in length, 11 1/2" in width, and 4 1/4" in height. The desk weighs 6 lb 9 oz and was made in Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA. It is an original piece from the 19th century and would make a unique addition to any collection. The hardwood type appears to be either rosewood or mahogany. The top section of the desk has a lift-out pen/pencil holder with sections on each side for inkwells and storage underneath. The lap desk is in very good used condition. There is one small 3/4" hairline crack near the key hole and a crack across the bottom. There is no key.We do combine shipping.
